History is like a river, flowing from the now, into an ever present past…
The images in this archive are drawn from a photographic odyssey spanning 3 decades of artistic conviction. Taken in its entirety the Archive forms an unparalled and unique document of recent social history and personal documentary truth that touches on many different facets of modern popular culture in the UK.
The journey begins with growing up in a small West Country town and goes on to explore the rise of a diy culture outlawed by legislation in the 1990’s, which post criminalisation and enclosure went on to become one of the UK’s most successful creative industries.
Initially made by an insatiable curiosity for shared experience the Archive is ever growing. It now comprises of more than 250,000 images which require continous work and management. The sample galleries that you see on this website are but a tiny fragment of a much larger whole with many pictures to look at and many stories to tell.
The work was never made for a profit motive or a commercial market. Its creation has always been self motivated and self funded by an artist concerned with truth, freedom, personal expression and social justice.
